Guruji, I have heard this said -- " he is only a singer: not a musician". The same can be said of a sitarist or a sarodist .. According to you, what distinguishes "only a vocalist/sitarist" from a musician?

I cannot imagine anyone saying that he is a vocalist/instrumentalist and not a
musician without clarifying what his definition of a musician is. If a musician is
supposed to be one who can uplift one to a state of Anand, then the vocalist/
instrumentalist are assumed to be kitabi performers unable to create real uplifting
music. These are opinions of people who wish to show off their ability to impress
people with their intellectual jugglery.
Just ignore them.
